Value for the audience
On 7 April, what would have been Almada's 132nd birthday, a space was inaugurated that explains and allows visitors to view the murals that Almada Negreiros painted for the Alcântara and Rocha do Conde de Óbidos ferry terminals.
Nine months after the signing of the protocol between the Lisbon Tourism Association, Lisbon City Council and the Port of Lisbon Authority, this new cultural and tourist hub in the capital, connecting Alcântara to Belém, is now open to the public.
The Almada Murals at the Maritime Stations Interpretive Centre tells the story of the paintings and the context in which they were created, the artist and his work in the city of Lisbon, as well as the history of those who passed through these terminals during the second half of the 20th century, in a journey through nine rooms: Quay, What the walls have to tell, Passages, Departures, Arrivals, Mural history, Hearsay, Almada in Lisbon, Almada Negreiros, Artist.
Value for the brand
Over the course of a year, NewsMuseum produced this Interpretive Centre, which now opens to the public the largest collection of 20th-century Portuguese mural painting. Together with LPM, we organised the opening event and designed an integrated communication strategy, with expert advice and an advertising campaign that successfully promotes this new cultural and tourist attraction. The Maritime Stations are finally open to the city. With the Almada Murals at the Maritime Stations Interpretive Centre, Almada's work takes on a new life and offers us a unique opportunity to rediscover the history of Lisbon and our country.
